Asset management firm Redwheel has hired Nandita Sahgal, James Kinsbrook and Raviraj Salecha to run its newly created Emerging Markets Impact Opportunities team.
They will take charge of the soon-to-launch Redwheel EM Impact Opportunities fund, which is subject to regulatory approval.
The trio come from the specialist environmental investment management firm ThomasLloyd Group and previously worked together at EM Impact Capital. At both firms, they specialised in energy transition investment strategies, which they have been focusing on for the past six years.
Saghal will lead the team, which will look at mid-market private infrastructure companies across three key sectors – energy generation and storage, transport and mobility, and circular economy in Emerging Asia ex-China.
Sahgal said: “Decarbonisation requires transitioning in every sector of the energy system including power, transport, industry and buildings.”
Tord Stallvik, Redwheel CEO, added: “Investing across the energy transition spectrum can generate long-term, attractive risk-adjusted and impactful returns.”
The news follows a series of expansions in Redwheel’s sustainable thematic franchises, including the acquisition of sustainable infrastructure and environmental specialist Ecofin, as well as the launch of the Redwheel Clean Economy Strategy managed by Amanda O’Toole.
