Former Barclays wealth manager joins AJ Bell as head of investment partnerships

Ian Aylward will join AJ Bell’s model portfolio team.

Ian Aylward has joined AJ Bell as head of investment partnerships. He will support the model portfolio service (MPS) team in building and managing individually tailored portfolios for advisors and clients.

Aylward has more than 25 years of wealth management experience and served as head of manager selection and responsible investing at Barclays Private Bank and Wealth Management for the past seven years.

This appointment follows a year of rapid growth for AJ Bell, with the firm’s assets under management rising to £6.8bn as of 30 September.

Ryan Hughes, managing director at AJ Bell Investments, said: “Ian has forged a fantastic career in multi-asset fund solutions, building an excellent reputation.”

During his time at Barclays, Citywire voted Aylward as the leading fund selector of the year in 2021 and 2023.
