Janus Henderson Investors has launched a global smaller companies fund for UK investors, the firm announced this morning.

The new Janus Henderson Global Smaller Companies OEIC will be headed up by portfolio manager Nick Sheridan and will invest in undervalued small-caps that can deliver long-term growth. He will be supported by portfolio managers Jonathan Coleman, Ollie Beckett, Yunyoung Lee and Sat Duhra, who have experience investing in small-caps across the US, Europe and UK, Japan and Asia.

Sheridan said: “Investing in global small-caps can offer several advantages for investors, including their outperformance compared to large-caps, diversification benefits due to the wide selection across various industries and sectors, and the potential for significant growth opportunities due to market inefficiencies.”

Pat Sanderson, head of the UK client group at Janus Henderson, added: “This fund is being launched in direct response to client interest; current valuations are extremely attractive compared to the large-cap universe and small-caps have tended to benefit the most from a lower interest rate environment.”

Janus Henderson has been running a Luxembourg-domiciled SICAV version of the new fund since August 2019, which has beaten its benchmark and is top decile within its peer group over one, three, five years and since inception.

Sheridan currently manages the Janus Henderson Horizon Euroland fund, which has delivered top-quartile performance in its sector over the past one, three and five years.
